Notice Periods

Notice periods should also be stipulated in the terms and conditions. After one month’s employment, an employee must give a minimum of a month’s notice to their employer. This is not affected by longer service although it is common practice for a company to require a longer notice period in certain industries and this would be stipulated as a core term in the contract.

An employer must give at least the statutory minimum notice period:

– At least one week’s notice after one month’s employment.

– At least two week’ notice after two years.
