Key amendments – Renters’ Rights Bill 3rd Reading

The Renters' Rights Bill is quickly advancing, having passed its third reading in the House of Commons and heading to the House of Lords on February 4th for its second reading. Key changes include banning advance rent payments, relieving guarantors of rent liability after a tenant’s death, and limiting some student contracts to six months in advance. The Bill could well receive Royal Assent by Easter, with real impact being felt by summer or autumn, giving landlords and agents little time to adjust to these significant shifts in rental practices. Planning is best started now.

We explore the key amendments and what they mean for landlords and tenants.
