Housing Secretary extends support for renters during pandemic

Housing Secretary Robert Jenrick has announced renters will continue to be supported during the ongoing national lockdown restrictions with an extension to a ban on bailiff evictions. The ban on bailiff evictions was introduced at the beginning of the pandemic. It has now been extended for a further six weeks until March 31, 2021. Measures are being kept under review in line with the latest public health advice. Landlords are required to give six-month notice periods to tenants before they can begin possession proceedings.
