Energy Performance of Buildings – A giant leap forward (Part One)
The Minimum Energy Efficiency Standard requires that before a property can be let, or now continue to be let, it has to have an energy efficiency rating of E or above. This means that landlords of properties with a rating of F and G have to get work done to reach the required level or register a valid exemption before they let a property. The maximum amount the landlord is required to spend currently on improving the property before an exemption is applicable is £3,500 including VAT.
