Tenant Fee Ban
The tenant fee ban was announced in the autumn budget of 2016, interestingly by the Chancellor, not the Minister responsible for housing. Not much detail was contained in the announcement itself but the Chancellor claimed that a ban from charging fees would save tenants £4.3 million per annum. A consultation ran from April to June 2017, slightly overlapping the General Election that was called and where Gavin Barwell, the then Housing Minister, lost his seat.
